Basic Needs Services

Every child has dignity and worth, and many of them live in vulnerable conditions. Through our programs we seek to support families in need by providing them with essential items that supports the development and well-being of their children.

Layette

This is the signature program of Christ Child Society across the country. Our "shower in a bag" includes essential supplies for infants: diapers, wipes, baby wash and lotion, bottles, pacifiers, clothing, hand knitted blankets, and other items. These bags are distributed to moms experiencing economic hardship through our partner organizations: PediPlace in Lewisville (A non-profit pediatric clinic that provides health services to children with limited access to care), Low Birth Weight Development Center in Dallas (A program designed to meet the complex needs of high-risk, low birth weight infants and low-income parents) and the Gabriel Project through Catholic Charities of Fort Worth..

Hygiene Kits

No child should have to attend school with unwashed clothes--that is why we have added our Hygiene Kits project, which allows us to give bags with essential personal care items and laundry items to the families who need them most.  We work with local schools in LISD to ensure the kits are distributed when there is a need.

Kids Eat Free

We volunteer for Christian Community Action (CCA) Kids Eat Free program each summer. One day per week we pick up meals from CCA and hand them out at a local mobile park. Additionally, we design a handout of fun coloring sheets, crosswords, word search and other puzzles around a theme assigned by CCA. We make 400 copies of these handouts which are distributed by CCSDFW and all participating organizations.

Snack Bags

We provide bags of snacks to children at PediPlace. These bags include tuna, trail mix, fruit cups, protein bars, and other healthy snacks. Often, their medical appointments are scheduled before or after school or around lunch times, so they are missing essential meals or snacks as a result. The snag bags provide some necessary nutrition.

Teen Bags

In partnership with PediPlace, "goodie" bags are prepared for the teen patients of PediPlace, to remind these kids that they are important. These bags include personal care items that might otherwise be a luxury, such as perfumes, nail polish, craft kits, puzzles, cards, games and other fun items!
